I’m not the kind of person who will sign up for just anything. I have too little time, and more to the point, I want to be sure I’m doing the right thing. Eric Scotto saw to it that I did, stepping forward as a friend, then as a mentor. Together with his gifted, friendly staff, he showed me that a major business leader can also be committed to social progress and humanitarian causes. The approach that he and his partner Patrice Lucas have taken is extremely meaningful to me. Profitability isn’t the primary goal; making a difference in the world and re-examining our way of life is.

As Eric once told me, “We have to leave something beautiful to our children.” So a while after the Eco-Symposium 2011, I decided to join up with the Akuo Foundation to help make worthwhile projects happen, to give meaning and substance to Eric’s pledge.

As Saint Exupéry said, “When you give yourself, you receive more than you give. For after being nothing, you become.” That sums up the vision that has inspired my commitment to support Akuo Foundation projects.

Our mission

Our mission

The Akuo Foundation was created by Akuo Energy, a French-based independent renewable energy producer that operates clean power plants worldwide, generating electricity from such renewable energy sources as wind, solar, hydro and marine power, as well as biomass and biogas.

Under the aegis of the Fondation de Luxembourg, the Akuo Foundation initiates and supports not-for-profit sustainable development projects. In turn, it offers partners the opportunity to help the underprivileged and contribute to environmental protection around the world.
